    I have a 5 year old son with Stage 2 kidney disease. We found out he had it when I was 26 weeks pregnant with him. We have been lucky he has stayed fairly healthy, he has never had infections or required dialysis (yet). We have had to monitor potassium intake in the past and now we have been informed he will be required to be on a low phosphorus diet. He isn't a terribly picky eater but with all the restrictions I would love to speak with someone about the "kidney" diet that was on it at a young age (or is the parent of someone younger).

    I am an adult nephrologist, but these guidelines apply to all ages. You will definitely need a dietitian's help. Here is a brief article:
