Hi, I was wheelchair for 17yrs. I learned to walk again. Exercise is how I get thru my frustrations. It helps me clear my head. I go 3to4 a week. Sometime just walking. Other times I go to the park and try to do different exercises. My hearing Dr suggested my tablet. So this my only way of communicating with the world. I just wanted to share.

I went up about a year ago from 160 pounds to 191 pounds because I got a blood clot in my lung and could not even walk 2 blocks for 8 months while I was put on blood thinners that I am off of now. I could not look after my diet properly because of my health also. In February this year I put myself on a diet to lose weight. My weight as of today is 156 pounds. I started the Davita diet yesterday but changed the recipes a little to lower the calorie count to 1500. It is still the correct amount of minerals and protein for me. My kidneys are getting worse told by a Dr. I went to Monday with swollen painful feet. He sent me to a lab to get 14 blood and kidney tests. My family Dr. only does 2 tests a year and said for me to do nothing till it gets bad. I am being sent to a proper kidney specialist and will get the appointment date in 2 days. I will then ask to see a nutritionalist. I do not know what stage I am in now but, will find out soon.

We got "The Renal Diet Cookbook" and also "Cooking For David". Both of them have some really tasty dishes. I've lost 40 lbs following the renal diet and eating some good food in the process. I'm a big guy, so portion control has been key for me.
Good luck.

Harryfutch may I ask who did the cooking? Who planned, measured all the ingredients, bought and prepped the food, then cleaned up the dishes? Then how did you deal with leftovers not enough for another meal but large enough to matter? Please answer my question with extensive detail. I need to know how you did-do this. I'm having great difficulty doing all this.
