I had to have a second fistula put in last Thursday because my first one failed. Yesterday, 4 days after surgery, my arm started to bruise. Unfortunately this is no small bruise and it is growing rapidly. The fistula is 1/2 way up my lower arm. The bruise extends from just above my wrist to 1/2 way up my upper arm and covers almost the entire underside of the arm.
I can still hear the fistula, so I think it is ok, but is it possible it is leaking blood or something? Has anyone else experienced this? I did not hit the arm on anything and have been very protective of it. I can't really tell if there is extra swelling because the arm is still swollen from the original surgery.
I called my nehprologist who referred me to call my surgeon...waiting for a call back from the surgeon.
